I just need a single headshot
If you simply need one good headshot and don’t want to spend too much, we can do that. I can visit your home, set up my backdrop and lighting and be done in as little as an hour. £90 all inc.
What to wear?
Always worth a chat before the shoot to talk about what you are hoping to project regarding clothes. Always have a couple of options or layers in case something isn’t working.
Avoid white or very bright colours when shooting colour, it tends to dominate the image rather than compliment your subtle skin tones. Don’t match outfits too closely in a group. Go for complimentary colours and avoid patterns and logos.
Go for simple, classic and timeless, avoiding fleeces or hoodies which interfere with the line of your shoulders and neck.
Make-up
If something is part of your look then by all-means wear it.
What to avoid - too much foundation. Photos can really highlight mis-matched skin tones between the face and neck or eyes etc. Bear in mind that I can remove temporary blemishes on digital images or film scans or create smoother skin if so desired. Film tends to naturally soften and even out the skin, so minimal make-up is usually the way to go.
Do you have a studio?
I prefer to work at your home, on location or at your business. I can bring my backdrop for studio-style images or we can use the environment to add interest and a personal touch. I will almost always use additional lighting.
How many photos will you take and how long will the shoot last?
It really depends what we are trying to achieve. I don’t rush people and can show you the results as we go so you can have an idea of what is working. Even when working with film I always have a digital camera handy for instant feedback. I would usually try at least 3 or 4 compositions and try to get some candid shots. Generally though we can be done in an hour or two.
What is your style and approach to photography?
It really varies from client to client. Essentially I want to work with you in order to create images you will love and which tell your story. My approach starts with a conversation and getting a feel for your style. Including you in the creative process is a key part of getting a great result.
